Demi is the fourth studio album by American recording artist Demi Lovato. It was released on May 10, 2013 by Hollywood Records.
She's no more a disney fan girl now. After her massive success of "Give Your a Heart Break" and her previous LP "Unbroken", Demi has opened up in more higher stratums which is a definite success starter for her in the future pop era. And I undoubtedly can say that she has some great potential unlike others which surely is a bright trait in her.
The album starts up with the lead single "Heart Attack" which is Demi's most violent raw performance till date, the cracked up lyrics and the insane beats of percussions definitely unbounded the song to Demi which slightly brings up a Kelly Clarkson in her. Made in the USA is definitely an inspiration of Miley Cyrus hit single which is definitely is no where near to Demi's version. The lyrics were stale and ordinary, but Demi's vocals saved the track atmost. "Neon Lights" is a club banger which much more impressed me musically and lyrically than the previous ones. The drubbing electro beats brings the Guetta-ish flavour to the track. "In Case" is slightly evocative to the recent break-up tunes by other artists. But the lyrical brilliance in the song makes "In Case" an admired track in "DEMI".
The collab with Cher Lloyd "Really Dont Care" is a definite chill out for the album. The bleak yet passionate lyrics opens up for a cool summer song with perfect brazenness. "Something We're Not" somewhat strokes the beats of an One Direction song to some extent. She saunters the melody-ish beginning and blows up on the hook with the hard percussion beats. "Never Been Hurt" seems to be present as an inspiration of Taylor Swift, but it never worked out here. Novelty needed! The last two ballads "Shouldn't Come Back and Warrior" saves the album on the tail. It gives the impression as they are stored for the impeccable end for the album.
I gotta say Demi Lovato has got a sure talent as Kelly Clarkson, but it only works when she comes out with few newfangled different tunes. The originality is bestowed but the innovativeness lacked.
Finally, "DEMI" is a great album for Demi Lovato and definitely her best work till date. But it gives me an impression that its been forced and yet been tried in a way that will only magnetize the mainstream listeners for a while and later on the gigs. A perfect mixture of good positives and experiments. Indeed a good summer album.
