Zero Dark Thirty - Review
Zero Dark Thirty is a 2012 Academy Award nominated film directed and co-produced by Kathryn Bigelow with screenplay by Mark Boal.
Plot : The main plot of the movie mainly revolves around Maya (Jessica Chastain) the American CIA expert who strives to find the evidence and intelligence to locate the deadly and brutal Al Queda leader 'Osama Bin Laden'.
In the last thirty minutes the movie shows the raid on Osama's house lead by the Navy Seal Team assassinating Laden which is dealt in a precised and a realistic way that it totally opposes the limitations of the images moving on virtual reality.
Cast : Jessica Chastain plays the character of Maya which is filled with some complex shades, a tough CIA agent who frightens in the beginning but later on involves into the task which is mostly impossible. She produced a standout performance in some particular scenes with some extremely vivid soliloquies enclosed with a much needed deportment. This is definitely an oscar winning performance which she completely deserves as she got nominated in the Best Actress category.
Crew : The director and ofcourse The Academy Award winner Kathryn Bigelow was absolutely brilliant. The main research is double important in these kinda thrillers and she was perfect in it. The tense factor which is created in some frames is been shot in a subtle way and been carried out in just the way it was needed. This style of filmmaking probably let Katheryn explore further different levels in her career. The semblance of truth shown in the script by Boal i.e the interrogation scenes with the witnesses and some operations by the US officials is quite raw.
Final Verdict : Some might not find this entertaining and is not for the commercial movie lovers. This movie has a deep content in it and is a deal of violence in certain aspects. The intelligent taking of the director and a overwhelming performance by Jessica marks the film as one of the best in 2012. Kudos to the director and the crew of ZDT for bringing a film which is not easily forgettable in the future.
My Rating - 4.5/5
