Another apocalyptic movie ?! And I'm not really tired watching movies of this kind. Causing destruction around the world seems cool, but when you think over, it seems bizarre and awkward. Anyways here we go!
Deep beneath the Pacific ocean, new monsters named the Kaiju's were born and they're ready to take over the world with no purpose. After few apocalyptic incidents around the world, the government union takes a colossal decision to build a huge mechs around with their own abilities and mechanisms and they name them the Jaegar's. Now! The Jaegar's were ready to take down the Kaiju's and the other part of the movie deals with this uncomplicated and minimal plot.
What do we expect from a movie like Pacific Rim? Most probably some kickass action sequences! And the movie never lets you down in this particular thing. They were few astonishing action sequences which were really a treat to watch, definitely in 3D. The gigantic robots and monsters fighting and destroying everything around is indeed remarkable.
The CGI! I gotta say that its one of the best work from the technical department of the year. The movie looked incredible and gorgeous with all those CGI works, although the most part of the movie is related to the CGI department, they never made a single frame look fake or unreal and that's indeed a top notch effort.
Worth watching in 3D? Hell yes! Undoubtedly it looked brilliant in 3D. I don't really recommend watching movies in 3D, but Pacific Rim gave the perfect dose that I really expect from a 3D converted movie.
Issues! Better blame the plot, apart from the fighting sequences, there was nothing to think about in the movie, it didn't deal with complicated issues. They don't really explain why or how these creatures form or destroy the world. The plot really looked stupid at times. But the main trait of the movie was action and I certainly get that.
Direction from Guillermo del Toro was exceptional, he made a movie with a visualistic brilliance, very creative and artistic. The robots were designed well to make them look like a badass. He used and implemented exactly what he thought of and that's a good piece of work delivered from the director. A special approbation to the technical department too for their magnificent work.
Finally, Pacific Rim is a good pop-corn fun action summer flick with the much needed action sequences we really anticipated. The plot didn't really smack the impact which is needed to some extent, but I don't care about it. I recommend you to go watch Pacific Rim in 3D, you'l definitely have some fun around.
