Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is an upcoming 2013 Bollywood romance film directed by Ayan Mukerji for Karan Johar's studio Dharma Productions. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles.
The music was composed by Pritam and it contains eight tracks on the whole, here is the review.
"Badtameez Dil" - The album kicks off with "Badtameez Dil" sung by Benny Dayal and Shefali Alvarez is a peppy, highly catchy number which brings out the gibberish lyrics which will easily strike the listener's mood. This is foot tapping and yet a hummable jazzy number which is worth listening for a while.
"Balam Pichkari" - This song brings out a perfect amusing holi vibe created by all the desi beats. This is surrounded all through by the tabla, dhol and harmonium strokes which makes the track more pleasurable than it really was. Lyrics were enjoyable and catchy and the primary Indian style added was enjoyable.
"Ilahi" - Starts out with few hard guitar and banjo riffs, Ilahi brings out a chill out vibe to the album. Mohit Chauhan is been accompanied by few kids on the chorus, however the song was not completely catchy on the move but on the whole it could be listened for Mohit's seamless voice.
"Kabira" - Performed by Tochi Raina and Rekha Bharadwaj, this track can only work with its picturization, this is maybe situational and important for the movie, musically it scores in few levels. But it didn't smacked me much.
"Diliwaali Girlfriend" - Performed by Arjit Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan, this track is been filled with few computerised techno beats and the dhol knocks in a desi style. Although the lyrics were a bit skeptical, Arjit Singh carried out the entertaining vibe till the very end which makes the track a definite listen on the album.
"Subhanallah" - Sung by the Indian Idol star Sreeram Chandra and Shilpa Rao, I can say that this track worked out in both ends i.e musically and lyrically. This has the most adorable tune crafted which will divert the listener.
"Ghagra" - Yet another desi number, which is quite amusing with its funny talktive liners, Rekha Bharadwaj shines bright and echoes with the tabla beats which can be appreciated for the fun created. This can get popular after the movie was released.
Finally, YJHD is a out and out amusing desi album, which can reverberate the listener both visually and musically. Indeed a great summer album for all the music lovers.
PS: Second versions were not included in this review.
My Rating - 3.5/5
Grade - B+ (Very Good)
