Verdict: "Rib tickling comedy, Spine tingling action".
So the zombies finally got featured in Indian films too! That's kinda gross! But they really seem funny to hangout with, seriously! I've seen many zombie movies back in the day and then I comprehended that they were actually not so scary, I only saw people beating the shit out of them and finally succeeding. But this is where Raj & Dk really impressed me, they've got a new formula for an escape. That really seems funny, but I kinda accept with them. That's ok! They didn't dig into the same style again. So, here we go.
What's the story about? Hardik (Kunal Khemu), Luv (Vir Das), Bunny (Anand Tiwari) were three weird friends who always find some abysmal things to deal with. So after when they do find some problems, they just need an chill out atmosphere to really get over all those things. Just at same time, Bunny gets a chance to travel to Goa for a work related to his office. So Hardik and Luv accompanies him and finally reach to the city. When Luv meets Luna (Puja Gupta) in a bizzare situation, she invites him to a party hosted by the Russian Mafia on an island which is pretty much near to the city and then the three travel to the island, party all night, do all the insane stuff they intent to do. But in the meanwhile, the party hosts offers few people some kinda red pills which will really drive them crazy later and finally makes them turn into zombies. Fortunately or unfortunately the main leads will not take those pills and will get saved.
So what happens next? Is there any way through from this zombie apocalypse? Who accompanies them in getting out of this fuming island? Uncover all your questions in Go Goa Gone!
So the thing about Indian audience is that they really don't like much of gore factor. If you show some kinda blood spilling scenes and all the eerie scenes, they will be like Eh! that's too much! So we don't want an evil dead to repeat here. It should look decent and that's really concentrated in the movie. The gore factor was not too much annoying, but its enjoyable and scary at times. I agree with them!
And what finds interesting is that the makeup part for the zombies. It doesn't seem like a CGI work done there (sorry if its a CGI). But its really an amazing work done by that department and yeah! the zombies! they were the best in the movie. Really should give it to the people who acted in those creepy characters.
I'll give credit to the performances though, especially with Kunal Khemu and Virdas there comedy worked out really well and the bromance thing between the two is much more needed when you're a nit crazy. Anand Tiwari impresses with his innocent kinda things he does. I gotta say that the comedy between these three worked out brilliantly, no doubt that this is one of the saviour for the movie.
Puja Gupta was decent in her role, she's got nothing new deal with, she mainly accompanies the leads in the most part and her acting abilities were polished and needs some kinda experience to really get into the flow.
And the biggest surprise! Saif Ali Khan himself. I'm actually kinda surprised when he didn't show up in the most part of the movie. But when he does there's going to be some kickass action upcoming. He's got a completely different style in the movie, his language, dialouges, appearance really gives us the impression that he's really trying something unalike to the other actors. He's very passionate, he didn't strive for that more screen presence and he completely impressed me particularly in this movie.
The director-duo Raj & Dk! Firstly I'm really very proud of them, because they were from Andhra Pradesh, their nativity shows in the opening scene itself. But they were spot-on this time, got a different and a predictable plot to deal with, the direction and the screenplay should be flawless. And they were perfect on the whole, the plot slightly got out of pace in times. But on the whole they really tried for an diverse and a comic one and that will be really appreciated when you generate it well.
Music by Sachin-Jigar turned out to be a satisfactory thing, few songs were catchy and were produced really well in the movie and outside for promotional purpose. I didn't really feel that the final song was needed. Nothing else.
Finally, Go Goa Gone is undoubtely the best action/comedy thrillers I've seen after many months. Credits to Raj, Dk & Saif for their brave attempt. India needs these kinda genres. We need a change and I bet that there will be few more experimentals inspired from here.
