Mere Dad Ki Maruti is a 2013 Bollywood comedy film directed by Ashima Chibber, featuring Saqib Saleem, Ram Kapoor and Prabal Panjabi in lead roles. It also features newcomer Rhea Chakraborty in a pivotal role.
I dont say this is a out and out comedy entertainer, but as long as the movie was playing, i was laughing all around and the entertainment factor was intact throughout the play. Should appreciate the team of what they had done, these kinda small starrer films need support and approbation.
This is completely a different and a short script but the writer had kept it gripping, all though it got in few segments. The second half was a bit dull and less enjoyable. But the marvel cast was the major plus that this film was not a fail.
Jumping back to the story. Its about Tej Khuller (Ram Kappor) who plans a surprise gift (Ertiga Car) to his newly wedded daughter and son in law. And one grimy day Sameer (Saqib-Saleem) uses the new car to take out his new hot girlfriend Jazzleen (Rhea) to a pub and after a lapsed confusion he ends up losing it. The other story revolves around Sammer, Gattu (Prabal Punjabi) and Jazzleen about how did they mess up with all their obtuse plans and how did they finally fixed the whole daft issue.
Cast, the major ones, Ram Kapoor was hillarious with his punjabi slang and that really entertained me. Even if he is acting serious i found something funnier in his expressions and finally its a pretty neat job done by him. Saqib Saleem the debutant i guess, was amusing and was pretty much enjoyable whenever he turns up. He fitted in well with his two faced characters behind his dad and was pretty much cool with all his dance moves and others. Rhea, i really dont complain about her performance and acting skills cause shes got nothing to prove in her role. Her character is like "C'mon add some freakin glamour to the film" and she was damn hot in her outfits and ul have a little crush on her when the movie ends. And this guy, Prabal Punjabi is a definite surprise, he's short and humorous and he really deserve a bright future in Bollywood.
The direction and the crew were agreeable. A short story but well organised. I dont have any complaints except in few parts. Music by Sachin Gupta was listenable with the movie. The punjabi mixed up beats were catchy and were useful for the film.
Finally, if you dont really like these kinda genres then please dont watch it. Its not a highly recommended one but an enjoyable one for the teens. And the final message we've seen and heard it around these days. I really enjoyed the movie apart from the all the shit i've previously watched. Il go with a three star for this surprising Maruthi.
My Rating - 3/5
