The Plot revolves around a young man Kunjithapadam (Siva) who is embarassed by his name. Annoyed by his name, he changes it to Harish with help of a numerology specialist. Soon after changing his name, he meets Gita (Priya) a school teacher, and falls in love with her. Taking this as a positive sign, he changes his job, locality
and pursues Gita. His life seems to be very happy. But his happiness doesn't lasts for a long when Gita finds Harish's real name and he lacks self confidence. She encourages him that there is nothing in a name and self confidence and poise matters in life. So he joins Chennai Marathon to prove himself under the guidance of Vali (Nandita), a former National Athelete. Did he win the Marathon?
This is Sivakarthikeyan's first movie as a Romantic Hero and he succeded in it. He proved himself that he is not only a comical actor. He has improved a lot in his acting skills and is fast emerging as a star in Tamil Cinema, as his films are getting big openings and expectation among the audience.
Priya Anand, though she didnt have much to do in this film, she had done her part as Siva's love interest perfectly. She looks ravishing and beautiful throughout the movie.
Nanditha (of Attakathi fame) done a great job. She has a important role in this film as Siva's coach. Can say that Second half of the movie completely revolves around her past.
Sathish (of Marina fame) along with Siva, keeps us engaging through the first half with their one-liners and timing comdies and dialogues.
Dhanush & Nayanthara's cameo appearance in the song "Local Boys" was received well by the audience with whistles and howls. Anirudh also appear as Bar attender.
Music by Anirudh is already a big hit. Songs already topped the Charts, espcially the song "Boomi Enna Suthudhe", "Nenjamellam" & "Ethir Neechal" which features rappers Yo Yo Honey Singh and "Hip Hop Tamizhan" Aadhi. His BGM were astonishing and excellent, especially during the Marathon scenes.
Cinematography by Velraj was good. Picturisation of "Velicha Poove" song was a visual treat to our eyes.
Director Durai Sethilkumar gives a clean entertainment movie with comedy and a good social message. First half was racy and engaging with comedy scenes, love sequences and songs. But second half was dragging and boring as there were emotional scenes involving Nandhita's past.
Finally, this is a Paisa Vasool entertainment movie with Laughter-riot first half and too serious and emotional second half involving the main plot of the movie.
Final Verdict: A neat Summer entertainer.
My Rating: 3/5
Grade: B (Good)
