The year 2013 finally came to an end and now it’s time we talk my Top 5 Bollywood movies of the year. 2013 was not the best year for movies but we sure got some amazing movies out of it. And I feel happy to venture a few of them below.
5. Kai Po Che | Director: Abhishek Kapoor
The main theme of the movie being Friendship it also dealt with Politics and Cricket. The Director, Abhishek Kapoor, and the writers connected these three diverse themes flawlessly. Sushant Rajput, Rajkumar Yadav and Amit Sadhgave amazing performances and the chemistry between their characters is the reason this movie feels so great.
4. The Lunch Box | Director: Ritesh Batra
The Lunchbox is a simple, heartfelt romantic movie. The movie has a lot of soul in it which clearly translates on screen. The lead actorsIrrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui did a splendid job. The Lunchbox is different from the typical Bollywood romantic movies and that’s where its main strength lies.
3. Special 26 | Director: Neeraj Pandey
Special 26 is a nail-biting thriller director by Neeraj Panday who also directed one of my favourite movies, A Wednesday. Manoj Bajpayee steals the movie with his superb acting and the rest of the cast which includes Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher and Jimmy Shergill has also done a fantastic job. A special mention to the background score which keeps you on the edge throughout the movie.
2. Madras Café | Director: Shoojit Sircar
Shoojit Sarcar, the director who gave us one of the best movies of last yeari.e. Vicky Donor, has done it again with Madras Café. This movie is an amazing blend of Drama and Thrill. You will be on the edge of the seat for the most part. John Abraham produced this movie and also played the central character, Vikram Singh.I hope that this actor-director duo produces many more amazing movies like this.
1. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag | Director: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra
Based on the life of Milka Singh a.k.a. The Flying Sikh, this movie unexpectedly turned out to be an amazing movie. Farhan Akhtar gave his best performance as an actor yet and was the life of the movie. The movie wouldn’t have been same if it wasn’t for him and the brilliant direction by Rakeysh Mehra.
