Neethane En Ponvasantham, one of the most awaited movie of 2012, failed to recreate the Magic of Vinnaithandi Varuvaya. Directed by "Wizard of Romance" Gowtham Vasudev Menon,
This film revolves around Varun & Nithya played by Jiiva & Samantha respectively.
Varun & Nithya like each other since their childhood and they fall for ach other. But they part away several times.
They broke-up for silly reasons and couldn't stay away because they love each other deeply.
Their silly fights, ego, love and emotion form the rest of the story.
Like Vinnaithandi Varuvaya and Vaaranam Aayiram, this film also runs in a slow pace and second part seems to be dragging and boring.
Gowtham Menon's touch can be seen in the technical aspect of the film. Eye-pleasing locations and beautiful picturization of the songs are appreciatable. Isaignani Ilayaraaja's melodies are picturised in a wonderful manner.
The only problem with Neethane En Ponvasantham is its slow pace first half and dragging second half. Short dialogues and better editing could have made it a perfect watch. The plus point of Neethane En Ponvasantham is the cult performance of Jiiva and Samantha, their chemistry has worked out well. Ilayaraaja's music and Santhanam's timing comedies are laudable. The romantic scenes have been shot well.
Final Verdict: Go with less expectation and open mind and this could be your weekend pick.
My Rating- 2.5/5
