Verdict: "An entertaining flick with a complicated plot"
Now You See Me is a 2013 American caper film directed by Louis Leterrier. It was released on June 7th in India.
An unknown organisation or an entity named the "Eye" bring together a group of four street magicians played by Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson & Dave Franco and assigns them an immense task which targets few characters and things. In the process, one task take account of robbing a bank through magic which compels Mark Ruffalo the FBI agent to enter into the scene.
Now Mark Ruffalo explores the trick behind the whole bank incident by a retired magician Morgan Freeman who usually unmasks the magician tricks. After learning all the wiles behind their strategy, Mark Ruffalo finally devises a plan to take down the four horsemen which awkwardly fails in the end. After all the twists and turns the horsemen discerns the main patron behind the whole task and he commences them to the "Eye".
Now the only issue I have about the whole movie is that it embraces a serious plot for an asinine reason which rather have some reason behind it but its not properly explained at any point. And it moderately makes us believe the tricks which are quite complicated and unbelievable. Although it has a clear explanation behind every trick, it feels stupid. But in the end the movie is not real, it just a shot for summer entertainment.
Few things really entertained me alot, especially the pace of the movie which was incredibly fast and engaging, the funny dialouges at times and few predictable twists which certainly didn't disappoint me. Its not just a serious tricky action thriller, it positively made the characters and the scenes to establish and regale.
Talking about the cast, the four horsemen were a delight to watch, the chemistry worked absolutely well between them. Mark Ruffalo shared a good amount screen presence, he performed really well in a vital surprising role he was given.
The crew pioneered by the director Louis Leterrier did a fine job, particularly the cinematography was brilliant, the movie looked rich and glossy and few segments were well shot and organised. The direction was a bit overly complicated and highly superlative which made the movie a bit cheesy at times.
Overall, "Now You See Me" is pretty an entertaining movie for the summer. It surely have few issues around which are rather unimportant when you take it as a movie. Go watch this movie its definitely worth a watch.
